Suzuki Motor Corporation and Maruti Suzuki India Limited to establish Osamu Suzuki Centre of Excellence


Paying tribute to the legendary leader Late Mr. Osamu Suzuki, Suzuki Motor Corporation and Maruti Suzuki India Limited, announced a proposal to establish Osamu Suzuki Centre of Excellence (OSCOE) in India. The announcement was made as part of the remembrance event held today at Yashobhoomi, Delhi, in the memory of Late Mr. Osamu Suzuki, Former Chairman, Suzuki Motor Corporation, who passed away on 25th December 2024, in Japan. 

Mr. Osamu Suzuki brought to India the Japanese concepts of manufacturing that not only led to high competitiveness but also resulted in creating more equitable, inclusive and cohesive society. These concepts are of deep relevance for the future growth of competitive manufacturing in India. Hence, to recognise Mr. Osamu Suzuki’s contribution towards nation-building and for wide propagation of his manufacturing philosophy that led to Maruti Suzuki’s success, this Centre of Excellence is being set up. 

OSCOE is proposed to be located in Gujarat and Haryana, and will work towards fulfilling the following objectives:

·         Support national objective of high manufacturing growth  

·         Raise the standard of component manufacturers (including tier-1, 2 & 3) to make supply chains of the country globally competitive

·         Build infrastructure and develop programmes in collaboration with academia and others to propagate Japanese manufacturing philosophy. The programme would include, but not limited to formal teaching, lectures, discussions, seminars etc. 

Importantly, the efforts of OSCOE would go beyond automotive sector to other areas of manufacturing.

CME on Kidney Health for All

The key takeaways for people at the CME programme held Sunday November 26, 2023, with the theme ‘Kidney Health for All’ were exercise and diet, awareness, screening and timely check-ups to prevent chronic kidney disease (CKD).   Participating as the Chief Guest, Tamil Nadu Health Secretary, Mr. Gagandeep Singh Bedi, IAS, laid stress on the fact that kidney disease was increasing and there was a need for addressing the issue. He drew attention to the fact that the Tamil Nadu government scheme, ‘Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam’, (Taking Healthcare to People), checked 1 crore people for sugar and BP and the number of new cases was alarming. These are the two major reasons for kidney disease, diabetes and hypertension and so he advised eating the right kind of food, doing regular exercise and creating awareness and screening. A NEW HAEMODIALYSIS MACHINE FOR THE THIRUVERKADU RCMW TANKER DIALYSIS UNIT

TANKER (Tamilnad Kidney Research) Foundation is a registered non-profit charitable Organization started in June 1993 with the aim of helping under-privileged patients with kidney disease by giving Subsidized Dialysis and one time financial help for medication, investigation and transplantation and spread awareness about kidney disease. TANKER cares for those, the underprivileged, who suffer with kidney problems of any kind, reversible or terminal, regardless of caste, creed, sex or religion. TANKER runs 14 dialysis units, 11 in Chennai and one each in Madurai, Vellore and Tiruppur. The Thiruverkadu dialysis unit is supported by the Rotary Club of Madras West, the CMCHIS and many valuable donors.   The New Machine has been donated by M/s.
