Tamil Nadu's CMCHIS successfully treats Thalassemia-affected children at Apollo Cancer Centre, Chennai

Chennai, 31 st May 2023 : Apollo Cancer Centre in Chennai, in partnership with the Tamil Nadu Government, celebrated World Thalassemia Month by successfully treating the highest number of Thalassemia-affected children under the Tamil Nadu CM's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme. The event was attended by Shri M Govinda Rao IAS, Dr Ravi Babu, Joint Director of Medical Services – CMCHIS Tamil Nadu Government, District Revenue Officer Mr. Mohan Chandran, and Dr Preetha Reddy - Executive Vice Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited, Clinical team, and Thalassemia beneficiaries under TNCMCHIS. One of the success stories is that of 6-year-old Shreya, who needed monthly blood transfusions to ensure her body had enough hemoglobin to supply oxygen. Despite no stem cell match among family members or unrelated donors, the expert clinical team successfully removed anti-bodies and proceeded with the BMT, which was successfully done under TNCMCHIS at Apollo Cancer Centre, Chennai. Apollo Hospitals Performed Country’s First Robotic RAHI Scarless Surgery to Remove Tumour on Woman’s Neck

Chennai, 19 May 2023 : Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, has successfully performed a robotic head-and-neck surgery on a 49-year-old woman to remove a large tumour of 8cm size on her salivary gland without any visible scar on her neck, a first of its kind in the country. The surgery was performed by Dr Venkat Karthikeyan C, Clinical Lead Robotic ENT - Head and Neck Oncology at Apollo Main Hospital, which has also successfully completed 125 such surgeries.   Speaking about the breakthrough surgery, Dr Venkat Karthikeyan said, “The woman arrived at Apollo Hospitals with a large tumour visible on the right side of her neck. Lungs from Coimbatore Transported within 1.5 hours to Chennai

The organ was transplanted in a 78-year-old patient at MGM Healthcare. Chennai, May 11, 2023: The lungs of a patient who was declared brain dead at a private hospital in Coimbatore were airlifted to MGM Healthcare Chennai for a transplant yesterday within 1.5 hours. The organ was retrieved from a brain-dead patient and air lifted to Chennai yesterday. It was shifted via a green corridor created from the Chennai airport to MGM Healthcare Chennai. The shifting of the organ was precisely completed within 1.5 hours. The authorities, including the Airport Authority of India, Coimbatore, Chennai, and the Greater Chennai Traffic Police, helped in creating the green corridor and ensured the transport of the organ was done in a quick and seamless manner.
