One of the best performances in recent times

The concert by Vidushi Gayathri Girish organized by Narada Gana Sabha Trust and Harikeshanjali Trust to celebrate the 145th Jayanthi of Gayaka Sikhamani Sri Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavathar is certainly one of the best performances of hers in recent times. The selection of rare songs in different languages was laudable.  Starting with Sri Raja Mathangi Varnam in Suddha Dhanyasi, proceeding to sing Siddhi Vinayagam in Mohana Kalyani, following it with a rare Kriti- Meenalochani in Thodi, Neethu Mahima in Hamsanandi, Vanchathona in Karnaranjani, the slokas and finally the  Mangalam in Kamavardhini Raga, Gayathri excelled in presenting everyone of them. Particular mention needs to be made about the Hamsanandi raga Alapana which was rendered beautifully with a touch of Hindustani style. She was ably supported by B.U. Ganesh Prasad on violin and Poongulam Subramanian on Mridangam whose performance enriched the quality of the entire concert.
