100 KMS CYCLING RALLY BY TN DGP DR SYLENDRA BABU FOR TANKER FOUNDATION’S FUNDRAISER

Held on Sunday, 13th Nov 2022 at 4.30 a.m at Hotel Savera, R. K. Salai

Tamilnadu DGP Dr.Sylendra Babu, on his mission to help TANKER Foundation rode a 100 km Cycling Rally on 13th November ,to enable the Foundation to raise funds for BP Machines for all Tamilnadu Police Stations so that Police Personnel can check their BP regularly and take corrective action to avoid kidney disease and for dialysis  machines for the Police Hospital. TANKER Foundation is very grateful to him for his dedication and enthusiasm in helping in this mission.

After the Rally,Dr. Georgi Abraham, Founder Trustee, TANKER Foundation,who initiated this effort ,said that uncontrolled high BP was one of the main causes of Kidney disease along with high blood sugar. Indiscriminate diet would also affect the kidneys.Regular check up of BP was most important especially for the Police force to take early action.He conveyed his gratitude to TN DGP Dr.Sylendra Babu who completed the 100kms in record time, the 230 participants who cycled in spite of the rains,Mrs Nina Reddy and Savera Hotels,Centaur Pharmaceuticals ,the Hindu, Big FM ,Hello city TV, BOB, WCCG, Just Buy Cycles, Pro Bikers, DGP Dr. Jayanth Murali who has earlier run 4 marathons and initiated this program and cycled and finished the 100 km rally,Mrs Rajalakshmi Ravi, Head,TANKER Awareness and Prevention Programme, (TAPP) and Mrs.Vasanthi Ravi,Admin Head TANKER Foundation and team.

Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami, Managing Trustee, TANKER Foundation spoke about TANKER having done over 5 lakhs free and subsidized dialysis and donating over Rs.4 crores for medication, investigation costs for the needy. She deeply appreciated the Police personnel as Angels on Earth along with all frontline workers including TANKER staff who work selflessly to help people. She thanked the CMCHIS, Greater Chennai Corporation, Rotary, Freemasons and all TANKER donors for their continuous support.

TANKER (Tamilnad Kidney Research) Foundation is a registered non-profit charitable organization started in June 1993 with the aim of helping under-privileged patients with kidney disease by giving free and subsidized dialysis and one-time financial help for medication, investigation and transplantation and also spread awareness about kidney disease.

TANKER cares for those, the underprivileged, who suffer kidney problems of any kind, reversible or terminal, regardless of caste, creed, sex or religion. Almost 2.5 lakh people die of kidney failure in India every year. It is the third-largest killer after malignancy and heart disease. Millions suffer from some form of kidney disease and many of them, particularly in India cannot afford the cost of treatment or care.
