A graphic novel about Anglo-Indian heritage with stunning illustrations

The launch event for The History of Anglo-Indians: A Graphic Novel, a profound exploration of heritage, identity, and untold stories, was held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the C.P. Arts Convention Centre on Eldams Road in Chennai. The evening featured Dr. Oscar C. Nigli, the Senior National Vice-President of the All-India Anglo-Indian Association, as the esteemed special guest. Dr. Nigli is also a former Dean and Professor at Loyola College in Chennai, as well as a Former Anglo-Indian Member of the Legislative Assembly in Tamil Nadu.

Attendees were treated to an insightful presentation by Keith Butler, who shared the research and creative journey behind The History of Anglo-Indians, followed by a discussion with the author. The graphic novel is brought to life by the stunning illustrations of Harry MacLure, a talented writer, cartoonist, artist, and comic book illustrator based in Chennai. MacLure is well known for his role as the editor of Anglos In The Wind, the longest-running international magazine dedicated to the Anglo-Indian community. The graphic novel was launched in partnership with the Madras Book Club, Chennai’s foremost space dedicated to telling the full, complex story of India’s heritage.
