Michaung Flood Relief support by Indian Red Cross Society

Today 16-12-2023 with the support of Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Egmore Division Branch supported 100 families by providing Bath Soap, Washing Soap, Mask, Sanitizer, Shaving Razor, Candles, Sanitary Napkin, Blanket, Towel, Dhotis & Sarees. The support was awarded   by Dr.M.Baskaran, Honorary Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Egmore Division Branch & Mr.N.S. Muralidharan, Executive Member, Indian Red Cross Society, Egmore Division Branch. The distribution was co-ordinated by ICWO- Indian Community Welfare Organisation, Mr.A.J.Hariharam, Ms.Praveena Solomon, Mr.V.Vijaya Kumar, Mr.A.Nagalingam & Mr.B.Srinivasan organized the community mobilization and distribution.

Silver Medal for Christy Elena at the World Masters Hockey Asian Continental Cup 2023, Hong Kong

Ms Christy Elena E, OS/ICF, only Indian who represented the Alliance International Hockey team (comprising of players from 6 different countries) at the WORLD MASTERS HOCKEY ASIAN CONTINENTAL CUP 2023 held at Happy Valley, Hong Kong from 20-26 November and secured Silver Medal in the SoM 035 W category. She scored 2 goals in the Semi-final for her team to reach finals in the championship. She was given a send-off by TN BJP President Shri K.Annamalai, Chairman Sports Connect Shri Purushothaman, CEO, Sports Connect Ms Gayatri and Industrialist Mr Chinnamuthu. On return, she was given a warm welcome at the Airport by both Chairman and CEO of Sports Connect. She was appreciated by ICF/Chennai General Manager Shri B.G. Mallya for her performance in the World Masters Hockey Asian Continental Cup 2023.

Love Came Down at Christmas

Ushering in the Christmas festive cheer in Chennai city with a joyful ambience on the very first day of December 2023 was wonderfully created   for the second consecutive year, by Life Focus Society in a Christmas event beautifully titled, “Love Came Down at Christmas.” Dulcet-toned sopranos Shilvi Sharon and Roshni Sharon and the double quartet Octet Cantabile treated the audience to choice carols and popular Christmas songs to set the stage for the speaker, Ram Gidoomal, the UK-based entrepreneur and author. Mr Gidoomal shone the spotlight on the theme for the evening, Love, and challenged the audience to go out and make a difference. The CEO of Covenant, Mr Joshua Madhan, proposed the vote of thanks.   The show was well anchored by Leeza Harris keeping the audiences entertained with fun games.

CME on Kidney Health for All

The key takeaways for people at the CME programme held Sunday November 26, 2023, with the theme ‘Kidney Health for All’ were exercise and diet, awareness, screening and timely check-ups to prevent chronic kidney disease (CKD).   Participating as the Chief Guest, Tamil Nadu Health Secretary, Mr. Gagandeep Singh Bedi, IAS, laid stress on the fact that kidney disease was increasing and there was a need for addressing the issue. He drew attention to the fact that the Tamil Nadu government scheme, ‘Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam’, (Taking Healthcare to People), checked 1 crore people for sugar and BP and the number of new cases was alarming. These are the two major reasons for kidney disease, diabetes and hypertension and so he advised eating the right kind of food, doing regular exercise and creating awareness and screening. He praised the work of Good Samaritans like TANKER Foundation, Kidney Warriors, MOHAN Foundation and Nephroplus who were involved in raising awareness on kidney health.   G
