Apollo Hospitals performs first-of-its-kind interventional procedure with laser technology on a 72-year-old patient, infected from pacemaker

Chennai, 28 June 2023: In an effort to save patients from pacemaker infection and enhance post-Pacemaker cardio care, Apollo Hospitals has introduced an innovative Excimer laser technology to remove the infected parts of the pacemaker from patient’s hearts swiftly. Indian Bank organised Social Security Scheme Saturation Campaign

Indian Bank organised Saturation Campaign in two of its branches under the Government of India Social Security Scheme Saturation Campaign (from 01/04/2023 to 30/06/2023). The first camp was organised in Boh Branch in Karnal, while the second camp was organised in Lohsimbly branch in Chandigarh. Both the events were presided over by Shri Mahesh Kumar Bajaj, Executive Director, Indian Bank.  Shri Bajaj, during his address, emphasized the affordability of the schemes- Rs.2 lakhs life insurance cover at just Rs.436/- per annum and Rs.2 lakhs accident insurance cover at just Rs.20/- per annum – and exhorted all eligible people to avail the protection and its benefits.Shri Bijay Kumar Sarangi, Field General Manager (Chandigarh), Shri Avnish Pradhan, Zonal Manager (Karnal) and Shri Rananjay Singh, Zonal Manager (Chandigarh) along with other senior officials of Indian Bank were also present during the occasion.

Almost 2.5 lakh people die of kidney failure in India every year. It is the third largest killer after malignancy and heart disease. One in 10 people in the world suffer from some form of kidney disease and many of them, particularly in India cannot afford the cost of treatment or care. Around 14440 people get kidney failure every year in Tamilnadu alone, and only 10% have access to treatment. TANKER (Tamilnad Kidney Research) Foundation is a registered non-profit charitable Organization started in June 1993 with the aim of helping under-privileged patients with kidney disease by giving Subsidized Dialysis and one time financial help for medication, investigation and transplantation and spread awareness about kidney disease. TANKER runs 14 dialysis units, 11 in Chennai and one each in Madurai, Vellore and Tiruppur. The Valluvarkottam unit is supported by the Greater Chennai Corporation, Rotary Club of Madras East and other valuable donors. The 2 dialysis machines donated by M/s.

Green Champion Award Winner

The Tamil Nadu Government Pollution Control Board presents the Green Champion Award for 2022, honoring individuals, service organizations, and educational institutions who excel in environmental activities. The award was presented on World Environment Day on 6-6-2023. The winner, Mr. G. Thangaraj, a Chennai Municipal School Teacher and Chennai District National Green Force Coordinator, received a prize of one lakh rupees and a shield. Thangaraj has worked in environmental awareness, solid waste and e-waste development, tree planting, herb garden establishment, beach clean-up, field trips, and awareness programs. He has worked in Vellore districts and has been implementing Environment Day events daily for 14 years. The awards were presented at a ceremony held at the Guindy Pollution Control Board Hall.
