Workshop to create awareness on Air Pollution

As per the instructions from the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate change, Govt of India, 104 polluted cities are identified in the country and Thoothukudi, Chennai, Madurai and Trichy are in Tamil Nadu. Awareness rallies, human chain, workshops involving school, college students and awareness run to minimize Air pollution were conducted since November 2022 in various areas of the city.

In continuation of this mission to create awareness among school students, a drawing competition was conducted jointly by Department of Environment, TNPCB, Greater Chennai corporation and Central Pollution control board by involving 256 students of National Green Corps (NGC) from 42 schools in South Chennai region.

Prizes were given to Best drawings by Mr.Magesan, Chief Engineer,gcc Dr.Krishnaveni, Director, IOM, Anna University,Dr.Srinivasan, Health Education Officer, GCC,Dr.Ashokan Rumi Herbals and Mrs.Saraswathy,DEO. Earlier Mr.Thangaraj District Coordinator NGC demonstrated the various green good deeds to be adopted by individuals to control Air pollution like usage of EVs,Cycles and Bio fuels etc.
