VOGM successfully performed with an excellent outcome on a 2 day old baby

Apollo Children’s Hospital had successfully performed Vein Of Galen Malformation (VOGM) surgery with an excellent outcome on a 2 day old baby. The parents of the baby during a press conference held on 18th August 2021 at Apollo Children’s Hospital Thousand Lights, Chennai, thanked Suneeta Reddy is the Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals, Dr.Srinivasan and team of doctors for their caring support and saving their baby, a precious gift from God. A vein of Galen malformation (VOGM) is a type of rare blood vessel abnormality inside the brain. In VOGM, misshapen arteries in the brain connect directly with veins, instead of connecting with capillaries, which help slow blood flow. This causes a rush of high-pressure blood into the veins.
