Swiggy Launches 'Mom’entum Policy: A Multi-Year Maternity Program Supporting Mothers at Every Stage

Swiggy, India’s top convenience platform, has launched ‘Mom’entum 2.0,’ an enhanced parental care policy to support mothers throughout their motherhood journey. Girish Menon, the Chief Human Resources Officer, Swiggy, emphasized that inclusivity means creating a workplace where mothers can advance their careers while managing family responsibilities. He noted that motherhood is a continuous journey with various needs, which ‘Mom’entum 2.0’ aims to address through a structured, long-term program. 

The new policy includes multiple stages of support. For pre-childbirth, it offers a gender-neutral approach, providing partial financial help for IVF and prenatal care, flexible work during IVF cycles, and five paid leaves. There are also financial aids for fertility treatments, adoption, and surrogacy. Swiggy ensures a smooth transition to maternity leave with structured planning and check-ins to discuss expectations prior to returning to work. Additionally, the company hosts sessions to educate managers and colleagues on how to support team members around maternity leave, promoting an empathetic environment. 

After 26 weeks of maternity leave, mothers can choose to work from home for up to a year. The policy includes financial support for newborns, child insurance, and coverage for maternity expenses for biological and commissioning parents. New mothers receive welcome hampers, reimbursements for postnatal recovery, vaccinations, workshops, and access to wellness sessions. 

Swiggy’s support extends post-maternity as well. Mothers can enjoy flexible work arrangements, including part-time roles, and a gender-neutral bonding leave of 15 days until the child reaches three years. The company ensures career continuity through structured plans to help mothers return to their original or similar roles, offering at least three comparable internal job opportunities and mentorship from other mothers within the company. 

Personalized support for postpartum wellbeing includes expert-led sessions on mental health, financial wellness, and career reintegration, along with access to medical support and wellness budgets for fitness activities. The policy also protects performance ratings during maternity leave to ensure career growth, while providing development modules and counseling to help with work-life balance. 

Swiggy has been promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion through its gender-neutral policy introduced in 2020, which addresses various paths to parenthood. The company also plans to support pet parents through a new Paw-ternity Policy. These initiatives show Swiggy’s commitment to recognizing all forms of caregiving, ensuring employees feel valued and supported at each life stage.
