TANKER Foundation supports “Drive to save lives” an iconic Golf Tournament conducted by MOHAN Foundation to promote Organ Donation

TANKER (Tamilnad Kidney Research) Foundation is a registered non-profit charitable Organization started in June 1993 with the aim of helping under-privileged patients with kidney disease by giving Subsidized Dialysis and one time financial help for medication, investigation and transplantation and spread awareness about kidney disease. TANKER cares for those, the underprivileged, who suffer with kidney problems of any kind, reversible or terminal, regardless of caste, creed, sex or religion. TANKER's goal is also to promote deceased donor organ donation. 


MOHAN (Multi Organ Harvesting Aid Network) Foundation is a pioneering NGO with a unique mandate of promoting deceased organ donation in the country. MOHAN Foundation took up the cause of organ donation at a time when no-one in the country was talking about it & the environment was fairly hostile towards this highly taboo topic and therefore has been a torchbearer in this space. It was set up in the year 1997 & has been in this space for the last 3 decades. Its unique mission is to ensure that every Indian suffering from end stage organ failure be provided with the gift of a new lease of quality life through a life saving organ. MOHAN Foundation is on a mission to save millions through several unique initiatives across the country and this time has taken up golf as a platform to spread the word about Organ Donation. 

 

MOHAN Foundation conducted a golf tournament on 9th September 2023 at Madras Gymkhana Club,Golf Annexe,Guindy, to promote organ donation.  This was a one of a kind event and was called a “Drive to save lives”  . 72 golfers including dignitaries such as Director Mani Ratnam, Cricketer Murali Vijay and Eye Surgeon Dr. Mohan Rajan, organ donors and recipients participated to show their support and promote the life saving cause of organ donation. 

 

Highlights of “Drive to save lives”

 

Karun Nanda - Heart Transplant Recipient, Amit Prasada - Liver Transplant Recipient, Anil Srivatsa - Living kidney donor also participated in the tournament. The team of Karun Nanda and Amit Prasad played the 18 holes and received the first runner up trophy. In addition, Jaya Jairam, a kidney recipient & B Sudhakar, a dual lung recipient, attended the programme.The event was also supported by NAC Jewellers, Gleneagles Global Health City, Kauvery Hospitals and other generous donors.

Award ceremony to honour outstanding achievements

An award evening ceremony titled “PURASKARA SANDHYA 2023” organised by Indian Magic Academy was held in a grand magical manner on 3 rd September 2023 at Madras Kerala Samajam Hall, Chennai.   Film star Seema inaugurated the award ceremony. The chief guest, Hon. Minister of Tamil Nadu Shri. P. K.
