Two dialysis machines inaugurated at Valluvar Kottam Unit

Tamilnad Kidney Research Foundation (TANKER) is a non-profit charitable organization for thirty years, with the aim of helping underprivileged patients with kidney disease by giving subsidized Dialysis and financial help for medication, investigation and transplantation, as well as for spreading awareness about kidney disease. TANKER runs a total of 14 dialysis units, 11 in Chennai, and one each in Madurai, Vellore and Tiruppur. The Valluvar Kottam Unit is supported by the Greater Chennai Corporation, Rotary Club of Madras East and other valuable donors. 

TANKER’s Hepatitis positive ward at the Valluvar Kottam Unit was supported by Chennai Willingdon Corporate Foundation (CWCF) with two dialysis machines at a cost of Rs. 14.16 lakh.  Mr R Srikanth, Director of CWCF, and Joint Managing Director, Brakes India Pvt Ltd. inaugurated the two dialysis machines on March 28, 2023.These Machines were inaugurated at the Greater Chennai Corporation RCME TANKER Foundation Dialysis Unit, Chennai Corporation Diagnostic Centre, 1st Floor, No.97, Kodambakkam High Road, Valluvarkottam, Chennai. CWCF’s generous donation will benefit TANKER’s underprivileged patients.


Mr. R. Srikanth said that they were happy to support TANKER again through Chennai Willingdon Corporate Foundation after a gap of twenty years. CWCF supports NGOs in the City of Chennai, working in the areas of healthcare, education, and social welfare, apart from preservation of heritage in Chennai. Ms. Rohini Ramesh of CWCF, and Dr. Chitra, Medical Officer, Corporation Diagnostic Center, GCC were present.
  

Mrs Latha Kumaraswami, Managing Trustee of  TANKER Foundation, gave an update on TANKER’s activities. She said that   since commencement in 1993, almost 5.5 Lakhs dialysis have been carried out so far for over 2,500 patients, and Rs. 4 crores have been provided as assistance to 4800 people for medication, investigation and surgery costs. At present, 800 patients were benefitting from TANKER's 14 dialysis units. Almost 2 lakh people have been reached out to through the awareness programmes, and 38,000 people had been screened for kidney disease. She was grateful to the TANKER Angels on Earth as TANKER's dedicated staff are referred to, CMCHIS   GCC, Rotary, Freemasons, Corporate donors, and individual donors.  TANKER is grateful to the Press for their support over the years in spreading awareness of TANKER’s activities.
