INAUGURATION OF TWO NEW HAEMODIALYSIS MACHINES FOR THE RETTERI CORPORATION URBAN PRIMARY HEALTH CENTER

TANKER (Tamilnad Kidney Research) Foundation is a registered non-profit charitable Organization started in June 1993 with the aim of helping under-privileged patients with kidney disease by giving Subsidized Dialysis and one time financial help for medication, investigation and transplantation and spread awareness about kidney disease. TANKER cares for those, the underprivileged, who suffer with kidney problems of any kind, reversible or terminal, regardless of caste, creed, sex or religion.


TANKER runs 14 dialysis units, 11 in Chennai and one each in Madurai, Vellore and Tiruppur. The Retteri unit is supported by the Greater Chennai Corporation, the CMCHIS, Rotary Club of Chennai Towers and other valuable donors.

The two New Machines donated by M/s. SBI General Insurance Company through GIVE India were inaugurated by Mr. G. Ravishankar, Regional Underwriting Manager, Mr. M. Datchina Murthy, Branch Operations Manager and Mr. Clifford D’costa CSR Manager ,SBI General Insurance Company. 

Mr Clifford said that SBI General Insurance Company was supporting Research work and Capex for different NGOs and were very happy to be associated with TANKER Foundation through GIVE India which brought about the donation. He greatly appreciated the Greater Chennai Corporation and the Rotary Club of Chennai Towers for starting this unit. Mr Ravichandran said that he appreciated that TANKER was doing awareness and screening for early detection of kidney disease through the TAPP programme headed by Mrs.Rajalakshmi Ravi,TANKER Advisory Member. Mrs Latha Kumaraswami gave an update of TANKER activities and said that almost 5.5 Lakhs dialysis had been done so far for over 2500 patients. At present 800 patients were benefitting through TANKER's 14 dialysis units. Almost 2 lakh people have been reached out to through the awareness programmes and 38000 people had been screened for kidney disease. She was grateful to the TANKER Angel's on Earth (TANKER's dedicated staff), CMCHIS, GCC, Rotary, Freemasons,Corporates, individual donors and the Press for their support over the years.

Award ceremony to honour outstanding achievements

An award evening ceremony titled “PURASKARA SANDHYA 2023” organised by Indian Magic Academy was held in a grand magical manner on 3 rd September 2023 at Madras Kerala Samajam Hall, Chennai.   Film star Seema inaugurated the award ceremony. The chief guest, Hon. Minister of Tamil Nadu Shri. P. K. Shekar Babu along with actress Seema jointly distributed the Mantrika Shrestha Award, Mantrika Ratna Award, and the Overall Contribution Awards at the event. The event was presided over by Shri E.
