DGP Dr. JAYANTH MURALI RUNS THE 4th 50km MARATHON FOR TANKER FOUNDATION’S FUNDRAISER

DGP Dr. K. Jayanth Murali IPS, Director General of Police, on his mission to help TANKER Foundation ran the 4th 50 km Marathon to enable the Foundation to raise funds for BP Machines for all Tamilnadu Police Stations so that Police Personnel can check their BP regularly and take corrective action to avoid kidney disease. The marathon was held on Sunday, 18th September 2022 at 5 a.m to 9.30 a.m at IIT MADRAS.

After the run, Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami, Managing Trustee, TANKER Foundation spoke about TANKER having done over 5 lakhs free and subsidized dialysis and donating over Rs.4 crores for medication, investigation costs for the needy. She deeply appreciated the Police personnel as Angels on Earth along with all frontline workers including TANKER staff who work selflessly to help people.

Dr. Georgi Abraham, Founder Trustee, TANKER Foundation said that uncontrolled high BP was one of the main causes of Kidney disease and along with high blood sugar. Indiscriminate diet would also affect the kidneys. Regular check up of BP was most important especially for the Police force to take early action.

DGP Dr. K. Jayanth Murali IPS, Director General of Police said that this was the 4th Marathon he was running for TANKER Foundation and that he was very happy to join hands with TANKER for this cause. He said that regular exercise, proper diet and lifestyle changes were important for the Police to maintain good health. He also said that they had raised more than Rs.15 lakhs towards this project which is very close to his heart.

TANKER cares for those, the underprivileged, who suffer kidney problems of any kind, reversible or terminal, regardless of caste, creed, sex or religion. Almost 2.5 lakh people die of kidney failure in India every year. It is the third-largest killer after malignancy and heart disease. Millions suffer from some form of kidney disease and many of them, particularly in India cannot afford the cost of treatment or care. 

TANKER also thanks Mrs Rajalakshmi Ravi, Head,TANKER Awareness and Prevention Programme, (TAPP) team, M/s Centaur  Pharmaceuticals  for donating 300 BP apparatus, Mr. Narotham Reddy, MD Medsmart, Mr.Ramesh Victor, COO Medsmart and Ms. Vidya Arumugam, Independent Strategist, Mr. Durai of Samurai Foundation, Mr. Rafiq Managing Director of Kothari Fertilisers, Mr. Bhaskar, Suganya Finance Ltd and other donors who have all been a great support in this project.
