59 Women Artists Gives 6th National Painting Exhibition A Colourful Start


The 6th National Painting Exhibition 2021 comprising of 59 talented and creative women artist organised by Pondicherry Art Akademy was inaugurated on 5th March 2021 at Varija Art Gallery, Dakshina Chitra, ECR, Chennai.


Senior Artist and Cine Art Director M.Jayakumar (JK) inaugurated the show and congratulated the participants and wished the akademy for their continue effort. Akademy's Founder & Secretary Artist. G.Sridalaadevi welcomed the gathering and hosted the show. The president of Akademy Kalaimamani.Artist.K.K.Segar, honored the chief guests.

Senior Artist. Lakshmi Krishnamurthy, Head-Dept.of Visual Arts, Kalakshetra- Chennai has lighted kuthuvilakku and released the catalog of the show which contains the detail of the participating artists including their painting images. She also asked the participants to keep painting and to observe the nature which will inspire them every day. Artist Gita Hudson, Painter, Filmmaker & Curator of Dakshina Chitra has received the 1st copy of the Catalog. Mr. P.Raja who is an Eminent Fiction Writer, Poet and Bilingual Translator was the guest of honor and he shared many of his experiences and said learning from even an younger person is important for creative workers. Senior Art Critic and Poet Mr. Indran conveyed his wishes to the participants over phone. The Akademy’s President thanked the chief guests, participants, Dakshina Chitra  for their support.

To encourage the best supportive institute, the academy awarded Mr. Rajendran for encouraging his students to participate in the National Women Artists’ Group Shows consecutively for 5 years.


Pondicherry Art Akademy, is active and successful for the past 10 years in which they have organised / curated 47 Art events & Exhibitions. They never failed to create a platform for the women Artists of India. On the occasion of International Women's day and to encourage the women artists, they organize National Women Artists' Group show every year.The show will continue on till 14th March 2021, from 10am to 5pm. Tuesday’s holiday.
