First DPL match was won by US Consulate Staff Team

 ICWO - Indian Community Welfare Organisation  organized the First DPL- Diplomat Cricket Tournament for Embassy, Consulate & High Commission Staff on 10th August 2024 at Soka Ikeda College of Arts and Science for Women, Sethu Bhaskara Nagar, Madhanangkuppam, Kolathur, Chennai. The event aims to create high level Awareness to STOP Child Abuse, Child Trafficking, Child Marriage & Child Labour in Tamilnadu and mobilize funds for intervention to address the same.

A.J.Hariharan, Secretary – ICWO thanked both the US Consulate and Malaysian Consulate for their support and participation in the diplomate cricket tournament as to create an awareness about the Child Marriage, Child Trafficking & Child Labour and Child Abuse in Tamilnadu. The tournament has created huge interest among the players and the consul officials. We, ICWO have plan to organize similar event on 3rd May 2025. This time for men and women doubles badminton tournament. We emphasis there is a greater need for various stakeholders to come together to extent the support and solidarity to ‘STOP crime against children’ in the state of Tamilnadu.

Toss the Coin by Excellency.Mr.Saravana Kumar Kumaravasagam, Consulate General, Consulate of Malaysia said  Human trafficking has now emerged as a significant problem all over the world and is the third largest international criminal enterprise. Trafficking in Persons is a grave organized crime, which affects a large number of people (specifically women and children) across the globe. It can have both national as well as international ramifications. International law forbids trafficking, slavery, forced labour, debt bondage, child labor, torture, arbitrary detention, and many other practices associated with child trafficking.

The GoI – Government of India enacted national laws and policies to combat trafficking. The following strategies to be adopted:

 

·         Education and Awareness generation is the key.

·         Comprehensive rehabilitation support to the victims.

·         Strict Enforcement of laws.

·         Everyone is the Stakeholder or a duty bearer to combat the human trafficking.

·         This is one of key initiative of Civil Society and Embassy to create Awareness on important issue of child trafficking, child labor, child marriage and child abuse.

This event is a shining example of how sports can bridge divides, fostering peace and harmony among nations. As we come together on the field, we celebrate not just the spirit of the game, but also the enduring relationships and mutual respect that strengthen our global community. May this match inspire continued collaboration and unity for a more peaceful world." Let us all join hands together to create a world free from child abuse, child labor and child marriage.
