World Day Against Child Labour 2025- JRC – ICWO, Salem, Tamil Nadu

On the eve of World Day Against Child Labour, June 11, 2025, the Indian Community Welfare Organisation (ICWO), Salem office, took a unique approach to spread awareness about the pressing issue of child labour. The ICWO team creatively decorated their office premises using Salem’s renowned special mangoes – a symbol of the region’s pride, abundance, and potential. The initiative was a powerful reminder that, like these fruits, every child has the right to grow, flourish, and reach their full potential.

The following day, on June 12, 2025, observed globally as World Day Against Child Labour, the mangoes used in the awareness display were sliced and served to over 200 children at Holy Children Nursery and Primary School, Udayapatti, Salem. The children relished the sweet gesture, while also becoming part of a meaningful observance.

To deepen the impact, an awareness session on the prevention of child labour was conducted for the school’s teaching and non-teaching staff. The session emphasized the importance of recognizing and addressing the signs of child labour and reinforced the role that educators and communities play in safeguarding children's rights.

This thoughtful and symbolic initiative underlines ICWO’s commitment to ending child labour and promoting a future where every child is free to dream, learn, and grow in safety and dignity.
