Montra Electric Expands its Commercial EV Footprint through VFRYT’s On-Demand Platform
Montra Electric, India's full-spectrum electric commercial vehicle brand, partnered with VFRYT, a Chennai-based technology platform for on-demand commercial vehicle bookings, as the company officially launched its logistics marketplace and flagged off a new fleet of electric cargo vehicles in the city.
The partnership brings together two
Chennai-based companies with a shared ambition to modernise urban logistics
through technology and sustainable mobility. While VFRYT is focused on making
commercial transportation more accessible, transparent and efficient through
its digital platform, Montra Electric is enabling that vision through
purpose-built electric commercial vehicles designed for the evolving needs of
urban and intra-city freight movement.
Designed to bring the convenience of app-based ride-hailing to the commercial transportation sector, VFRYT enables customers to book a wide range of cargo vehicles, from small last-mile carriers to larger commercial trucks, through a single digital platform. Beyond booking, VFRYT uses GPS, SIM-based and FASTag tracking, AI-enabled monitoring and real-time alerts to give businesses greater visibility over their shipments and help them respond to delays more effectively. By bringing vehicle access, pricing and tracking together, the platform aims to make commercial transportation easier to manage, more transparent and more efficient.
Mr. Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director,
Montra Electric, said, "For electric commercial mobility to scale, the
business case must be as compelling as the technology itself. The real
opportunity lies in integrating electric vehicles into the everyday flow of
commerce and ensuring they create tangible value for the businesses that depend
on them. By connecting our vehicles with an on-demand platform like VFRYT, we
are expanding opportunities for their deployment while bringing electric
mobility closer to the daily realities of Indian logistics."
Speaking on the occasion Mr.
Pradeep Murali, Founder & CEO, VFRYT, said, “Our vision at VFRYT is to make
commercial transportation more accessible, transparent and efficient through
technology. This collaboration with Montra Electric is an important step towards
bringing sustainable mobility into the everyday logistics ecosystem. We aim to give businesses greater access to
efficient transportation solutions through our on-demand platform, while
accelerating the adoption of electric mobility and supporting cleaner urban
logistics. We believe that the convergence of technology and electric mobility
will play a key role in shaping the future of goods transportation in India.”
The Montra Electric Super Cargo eCX
d+ is designed to meet the evolving demands of urban and last-mile logistics,
combining performance, durability and driver comfort. Powered by a 13.8 kWh
battery, the vehicle offers a range of over 150 km on a single charge and a
spacious cargo capacity of 170 cubic feet, making it well-suited for intra-city
goods transportation. Its heavy-duty chassis is engineered for demanding
commercial operations, while the spacious cabin and LED lighting enhance driver
comfort and visibility. The vehicle also comes equipped with the One Montra
App, enabling a connected ownership experience. Backed by a five-year battery
warranty, the Super Cargo eCX d+ offers fleet operators and logistics partners
a reliable and efficient solution for their daily transportation needs.
VFRYT's initial fleet will comprise
approximately 185 electric vehicles, including 50 newly inducted Montra
Electric vehicles. These vehicles will be deployed through VFRYT's network of
channel mobility partners, with both fleet-based operations and owner-cum-driver
partners onboarded to the platform. This model is designed to expand vehicle
availability while creating opportunities for individual vehicle owners and
mobility partners to participate in the platform. VFRYT will also offer diesel
and CNG vehicle options, allowing customers to choose solutions best suited to
their operational requirements. The phased deployment strategy is expected to
strengthen access to commercial transportation across Chennai, with plans to
expand into other parts of India in the coming years.
The launch was attended by
prominent representatives from the startup, mobility and electric vehicle
sectors, including Mr. Singai G. Ramachandran, Chairman of the Tamil Nadu
Startup and Innovation Mission, Mr. Vivek Jain, Co-Founder and CEO of NexxGro, along
with industry partners, customers and media representatives.
The collaboration reflects the
growing convergence of digital logistics and electric mobility, as
technology-led platforms increasingly drive more efficient, transparent and
sustainable movement of goods. By supporting emerging mobility ecosystems such
as VFRYT, Montra Electric continues to advance its commitment to accelerating
the adoption of electric commercial transportation across India.
