India Records 63 IPOs in Q3 2026, the Highest Ever in a Quarter: Uniqus Consultech

India’s IPO market recorded its highest quarterly listing activity in Q3 2026, with 63 companies making their stock-market debut, according to the latest India IPO Insights by Uniqus Consultech. September recorded 32 listings, including 6 companies listing on 17 September, the highest number recorded in a single day.

The third quarter accounted for 73% of all IPO listings and 80% of funds raised during the first 3 quarters of 2026. Companies raised INR 87,680 crore through IPOs during the third quarter, compared with INR 109,186 crore during the year through the third quarter.

Alongside record activity, the analysis indicates a recalibration among issuers. Of the 58 third-quarter IPOs with a fresh-issue component, 32 companies, or 55%, reduced their proposed fresh-issue size. Among these companies, the average reduction was more than 20%, with the steepest reduction reaching 50%. Only 6 companies increased their proposed fresh issue size, while 20 retained it.

Third-quarter IPOs recorded an average listing gain of approximately 20%, compared with 7% in Q2 and 1.44% in Q1. Of the 63 companies listed during the third quarter, 49, or 78%, delivered positive listing-day returns. Five recorded gains of more than 75%.

Performance continued beyond the first day of trading. Average returns for third-quarter IPOs increased from approximately 20% on listing day to 36% as of 9 October 2026. The average return across IPOs listed during 2026 stood at 37% as of the same date.

Raghuram K, Partner, Accounting & Reporting Consulting, Uniqus Consultech, said, “The record number of IPO listings is significant, but what stands out is the recalibration happening beneath the headline numbers. More than half of the IPOs with a fresh issue component reduced their proposed issue size, indicating greater responsiveness to investor expectations and prevailing market conditions. At the same time, 78% of Q3 IPOs delivered positive listing-day returns. As India’s IPO market matures, successful listings will increasingly depend not just on coming to market, but on realistic expectations, strong preparation and sustained readiness for life as a listed company.”

The composition of IPO proceeds also highlights an important trend. According to the Uniqus Consultech analysis, 48% of Q3 IPO proceeds were directed towards repayment or prepayment of borrowings, making deleveraging the biggest use of proceeds. This was followed by general corporate purposes at 16%, working capital at 12%, and capital expenditure at 10%.

Investor appetite remained resilient despite the significant increase in IPO supply. Overall average subscription stood at 61 times in June, 58 times in July, 70 times in August, and 61 times in September, while retail subscription increased from 18 times in June to 35 times in September. Institutional demand also remained strong, with average QIB subscription reaching 84 times in September, despite 32 companies listing during the month.

Beyond IPO activity, the Uniqus Consultech report highlights a wider shift in India’s equity markets. The top 10 companies accounted for approximately 28% of market capitalization in December 2021, compared with below 18% by September 2026. During 2026, companies outside the top 10 collectively added approximately INR 22 lakh crore in market value, while the top 10 companies saw their market capitalization decline by nearly INR 18 lakh crore.

The findings point to an IPO market experiencing record activity, greater recalibration by issuers, strong investor demand, and a broader distribution of market value across listed companies.
