Dr. Georgi Abraham Honoured with Dhanvantari Award for Lifetime Contribution at PDSI 2026

Dr. Georgi Abraham, President and Founder Trustee of TANKER Foundation, and Former Professor & Advisor Department of Nephrology, The Madras Medical Mission was honoured with the prestigious Dhanvantari Award for Lifetime Contribution at the Conference of the Peritoneal Dialysis Society of India (PDSI 2026), held in Patna, Bihar, on September 26, 2026. The award recognises his outstanding and longstanding contributions to nephrology, kidney care, medical education and patient welfare.

The occasion also marked the release of the book Management of Peritoneal Dialysis & Related Challenges, co-authored by Dr. Georgi Abraham, Dr. Narayan Prasad, Dr. Santosh Varughese, Dr. Arun Thomas E. T. and Dr. Priya Haridas Anupama, with a foreword by Dr. Ramesh Khanna.

The book provides valuable insights into the management of peritoneal dialysis and addresses the challenges associated with this important treatment modality, serving as a useful resource for healthcare professionals involved in kidney care.

The Dhanvantari Award recognizes his lifelong commitment to improving kidney care and the lives of patients affected by kidney disease.

Anglo-Indian Community continues to be remembered and supported

On August 27, 2026, the Anglo-Indian Suburban Front and Anglos In The Wind convened a meeting for the Anglo-Indian community at the Don Bosco Shrine Hall in Ayanavaram, Chennai. The event featured Mr. Felix Gerald, the esteemed Chairman of the Tamil Nadu State Minorities Commission, as the main speaker. In his address, Mr. Felix conveyed that the Tamil Nadu government, under the leadership of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, is dedicated to enhancing the well-being of its citizens.
