Chennai-based endodontist V. Gopikrishna has made history by becoming the first Indian president of the International Federation of Endodontic Associations (IFEA). He officially took office on Saturday during the 15th World Endodontic Congress held in Sydney, Australia. This landmark achievement not only highlights the growing influence of Indian dentistry on the international stage but also underscores its significant contributions to endodontic education and practice worldwide.

Endodontics is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries affecting the dental pulp and surrounding tissues, with specialists frequently performing root canal procedures to save teeth. In his new role, Gopikrishna aims to foster collaboration among endodontic associations from different countries, advocate for education, enhance scientific research, and strengthen global standards in the field.

His appointment reflects the increasing prominence of Indian dental professionals globally and represents a moment of pride for both Chennai and the wider Indian dental community.
