Young Indian Chess Enthusiasts to Challenge World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen
YiPPee! is handing 25 young chess players from Bengaluru and Chennai a once-in-a-lifetime move: the chance to play against Grandmasters including World No. 1 and five-time World Champion Magnus Carlsen, Indian chess legend Koneru Humpy, and rising star Divya Deshmukh through its ‘Cook. Share. Checkmate!’ contest, launched in association with Alpine APL Pipers.
The Cook. Share. Checkmate! contest is open to players
aged 13-19 years who are registered on Chess.com or Lichess.org, based in
Bengaluru or Chennai.
The contest invites young chess enthusiasts to make a
bowl of YiPPee! noodles with their own creative twist, and share their most
memorable, exciting or unexpected chess moment. 25 winners will be chosen for
an exclusive chess experience- a chance to meet, interact with, and challenge
the champions themselves.
To enter, participants can fill out the official
contest form, sharing a photo or video of their YiPPee! creation, their
Chess.com or Lichess.org profile details, and their chess story. The contest is
live from August 26 to September 2, 2026. Entries close on September 2, 2026,
at 12:00 PM IST, with winners announced ahead of the exclusive chess
experience.
Beyond the game itself, winners will get to cook up
their own YiPPee! creations, share a bowl of hot noodles with the champions,
and swap stories over a shared love for chess.
Speaking about the initiative, Atul Pujar, Head of
Marketing, Snacks and Noodles, Foods Div, ITC Ltd. said, “As a youth-centric
brand, YiPPee! has been actively supporting sports and encouraged young talent
in India. Through our association with Alpine APL Pipers, we are creating a
unique platform for aspiring chess players to experience the sport up close
with global champions.”
The initiative is part of #BeyondTheMove campaign,
which celebrates the passion, stories and experiences that go beyond every move
on the chessboard.
