Vice-President of India released Dr. Georgi Abraham’s book on kidney failure in New Delhi

The Hon’ble Vice-President of India released the book Truth and Healing: Religion, Spirituality and Faith in Kidney Failure, authored by Dr. Georgi Abraham, President and Founder Trustee, TANKER Foundation, at the Vice-President’s Office in Parliament, New Delhi.

The book explores the role of religion, spirituality and faith in helping patients and families navigate the challenges of kidney failure. It brings together medical perspectives and personal experiences, offering a deep understanding of the emotional, spiritual and human dimensions of living with kidney disease.

The book comprises 22 chapters, including contributions from 17 renowned kidney specialists from India, Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom, South Africa and the United States. It also includes personal accounts drawn from Dr. Georgi Abraham’s long association with patients and healthcare professionals, including a nurse who has been associated with him since 1991, three patients whom he has known for more than 23 years, and a friend who has been part of his journey since 1991.

The book reflects Dr. Georgi Abraham’s 46 years journey in nephrology and his close interaction with patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals and friends. Through these diverse voices and experiences, Truth and Healing seeks to highlight the importance of compassion, hope, faith and human connection alongside medical treatment.

Dr. Georgi Abraham said, “Kidney failure is not only a medical journey. It is also an emotional, spiritual and human journey. Through this book, I have tried to bring together the experiences and reflections of patients, doctors, nurses, friends and families to explore how faith, spirituality and hope can provide strength during difficult times.”

The participation of eminent kidney specialists from different countries adds an important academic and professional dimension to the book, while the personal stories provide an intimate perspective on the realities of living with kidney failure.

The release of Truth and Healing: Religion, Spirituality and Faith in Kidney Failure marks another significant contribution by Dr. Georgi Abraham towards encouraging meaningful conversations around kidney disease, patient experiences and holistic care.
