DePuy Synthes Announces Collaboration to Establish Orthopaedic Skill Lab

DePuy Synthes, a global leader in orthopaedic technologies and solutions, today announced a new initiative with the Department of Orthopedics at Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore to create a specialized Orthopaedic Skill Lab at the college. The strategic partnership was extended with the aim of facilitating procedural simulation, instrumentation training, and increasing awareness of technology-assisted surgery for orthopaedic residents, fellows, and faculty.


The lab provides residents and fellows with a structured introduction to modern orthopaedic tools, implant management, and surgical processes through saw-bone practice, faculty-led case discussions, and a gradual introduction to technology-assisted techniques, developing essential skills prior to or alongside live surgeries.

Tamil Nadu hosts 78 medical colleges, making it one of India's largest hubs for medical training. As orthopaedic care advances towards greater specialisation and incorporates new technologies, South India's high concentration of institutions positions it to excel in practical, hands-on surgical education. The planned skill lab at CMC Vellore aims to establish a lasting, practice-focused training infrastructure for the region.
