TANKER Foundation launches CMCHIS-Supported CAPD Fluid Bags Distribution Programme at Ambattur Rotary TANKER Dialysis Unit

TANKER Foundation marked a historic milestone with the launch of the Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) Fluid Bags Distribution Programme under the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS), Tamil Nadu at the Ambattur Rotary TANKER Dialysis Unit.

Dr. Georgi Abraham, President and Founder Trustee of TANKER Foundation distributed the first bag, in the presence of Mrs. Latha A. Kumaraswami, Managing Trustee.This occasion holds special significance because Dr. Georgi Abraham pioneered the introduction of Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) in India in 1991, laying the foundation for home-based dialysis in the country.Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Georgi Abraham said, "Introducing CAPD in India in 1991 was the beginning of a journey to make home-based dialysis a reality for patients. Today, seeing CAPD fluid bags distributed through CMCHIS is a dream come true for all of us. It represents a significant milestone in ensuring that deserving patients have equitable access to quality kidney care without financial hardship."

The first CAPD fluid bag was distributed to patient K.S. Manoharan. Also present were Mr. Srinivasan from Baxter PD Solutions, Mr. Guganathan and Mr. Giridharan (TANKER Area Managers), along with the dedicated TANKER Foundation team.

TANKER Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Tamil Nadu, CMCHIS, Baxter PD Solutions, healthcare professionals, and all stakeholders whose support and collaboration made this landmark initiative possible.
