Interio by Godrej Eyes INR 65cr Revenue from Tamil Nadu, Accelerates Chennai Expansion with 10 stores
Amplifying its commitment to delivering elevated retail experiences and making great design more accessible, Interio by Godrej, a leading furniture brand from the Godrej Enterprises Group, has launched its revamped store in Chennai alongside the unveiling of its ‘Moments That Matter’ (MTM) study, an initiative that explores how everyday experiences at home influence emotional well-being, connection, and comfort for modern Indian consumers.
Spread across nearly 6000 sq.ft., the store reflects Interio’s commitment to provide a one-stop destination for contemporary Indian homes, showcasing an extensive range of modular, configurable, and personalised furniture across bedroom, living, and dining categories, along with a newly introduced soft furnishings line. Reinforcing this strategic direction, the brand is aiming to capture a market share of 40% in Chennai over the next three years and is projected to generate revenues of INR 45 crores from the city and INR 65 crores from Tamil Nadu in FY27, indicating an overall growth of 25% in the region.
Dr. Dev Narayan
Sarkar, Senior Vice President and Head of Consumer Business (B2C), Interio by
Godrej, said, “Chennai continues to be a strategically important market for us, with
steady residential demand and a healthy pipeline of new launches reflecting
sustained end-user confidence. The city recorded over 5,000 residential unit
launches in the last quarter, underscoring consistent momentum driven by a
stable, salaried workforce and ongoing infrastructure improvements. This is
translating into a growing preference for organised, modular, and end-to-end
home solutions. We are also seeing consumers in Chennai gravitate towards
functional, clutter-free spaces, with a strong focus on durability, clean
design, and efficient use of space.”
Further, he added, “Categories such as
multifunctional furniture, storage-led solutions, and work-from-home setups are
gaining traction, shaped by compact urban living and evolving household
structures. Our focus remains on strengthening accessibility while enhancing
the overall consumer journey across touchpoints, alongside rising demand for
kitchens and integrated interior solutions.”
Interio has established a retail and distribution footprint in Chennai, with 8 new showrooms, 45 channel partners, and 250 retailers, complemented by a broader presence across Chennai and Tamil Nadu. The brand is witnessing consistent demand across categories such as home storage, bedroom, and living room furniture, along with growing traction in modular kitchens and mattresses.
The launched MTM
study found that in Southern India, nearly 95% of respondents say they sleep
best in their own bed, reinforcing the home as the primary space for rest and
comfort. This extends into everyday routines, with 86% preferring to unwind at
home on Friday evenings, highlighting a strong shift towards home-centric
lifestyles. The study further highlights the emotional value of shared moments,
with 93% of respondents stating that spending time with loved ones and sharing
the day’s experiences in the evening is deeply valued. Together, these insights
point to how homes in Southern India are evolving beyond functionality,
increasingly being designed to enable relaxation, connection, and overall
well-being. The MTM study comprised over 2,600 respondents across India.
