Chennai’s Rising Summer Heat Drives Interest in Sintex TruPuf Water Tanks

With Chennai experiencing another intense summer and rising rooftop temperatures across the city, Sintex is seeing growing relevance for TruPuf, its insulated water storage tank designed to help reduce heat transfer in stored water during prolonged exposure to sunlight.

In many apartment complexes and independent homes across Chennai, overhead water tanks remain exposed to direct sunlight for several hours every day, often causing stored water to become excessively warm during peak afternoons. The issue is increasingly influencing how households evaluate water storage solutions, particularly during summer months.

Experts point out that prolonged heat exposure can also affect water hygiene inside conventional storage tanks by encouraging algae formation and causing unpleasant odour, particularly during peak summer months. This is leading more consumers to explore water storage solutions that are better suited for extreme weather conditions.

Yashovardhan Agarwal, Managing Director, Welspun BAPL Ltd and Director at Sintex  “The Sintex Trupuf was created to solve a very real, everyday problem  water that becomes too hot and uncomfortable to use during peak summer. With heatwaves across the country, our focus is on making water storage safer, more comfortable, and more dependable for families and businesses alike. Trupuf brings together durability, hygiene, and thermal insulation in a way that genuinely improves how people experience stored water in extreme weather conditions. For us, smarter water storage is the first step toward healthier homes and communities.”

In line with this shift, Sintex is highlighting TruPuf, its insulated water storage tank designed for extreme weather conditions. The tank comes with a 50 mm polyurethane foam insulation layer that helps reduce heat transfer and maintain stored water closer to its original filling temperature even during prolonged exposure to heat.

The tank is manufactured using 100% virgin, food-grade plastic and features a UV-stabilised outer layer designed to minimise direct heat absorption and reduce the possibility of algae formation commonly associated with prolonged sunlight exposure.

As Indian summers continue to become more intense across urban centres, climate-responsive home infrastructure, including insulated water storage, is gradually becoming an important consideration for households looking for greater comfort and convenience in daily living.
