Pondicherry Art Akademy hits Diamond Milestone at Cholamandal Artists’ Village on World Art Day

In a remarkable celebration of artistic talent, the Pondicherry Art Akademy marked its 60th milestone by inaugurating the 9th National Women Artists’ Group Show. This prestigious exhibition, held at the renowned Laburnum & Indigo Galleries in Cholamandal Artists’ Village, coincided with World Art Day and showcased 95 exceptional works from artists around the globe.

A Pan-Indian Movement in Chennai

Under the guidance of President Kalaimamani K. K. Segar and Secretary Artist G. Sridalaadevi, the Akademy has transformed from a local collective into a national force in the art community. This year's exhibition features 87 artists representing 13 Indian states, along with international participants from the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, and Singapore. "The diversity and technical mastery on display here reflect the evolving essence of the modern woman artist," remarked esteemed artist Mrs. Premalatha Seshadri during the event's inauguration.

 The 60th Landmark: Since its establishment in 2010, the Akademy has relentlessly championed the arts, and this exhibition represents its 60th successful showcase.

Bridging the Generation Gap: The exhibition employs a distinctive "Senior-Junior" mentorship model, featuring the works of fine art students from prestigious institutions like Sir J. J. School of Art displayed alongside pieces by seasoned artists such as Premalatha Seshadri, Lakshmi Krishnamurty, Dr. Seema Devi, and Lakshi Reddy.

The Catalog Release: The official exhibition catalog was introduced by Mr. P. Gopinath, President of the Artists Handicrafts Association, and received by respected art critic Artist Susan Thottan Athi.

April 18: "Come & Paint" – A large-scale live painting session open to all participants (10 AM – 5 PM).

April 19: A Critical Art Discussion featuring Kalaivalarmani R. Rajendran (2 PM).

April 22: Grand Finale Painting Demonstration by masters N. S. Manohar,  R. Jacob Jebaraj (10:30 AM).
