TANKER Foundation Signs MoU with Madurai Municipal Corporation along with Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital


Chief Medical Officer/ City APM, Madurai Corporation Dr. Sreegothai Chockkalingam and Tamilnad Kidney Research (TANKER) Foundation's Founder Trustee Dr. Georgi Abraham and Managing Trustee Mrs. Latha A. Kumaraswami, exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of Mr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, Honourable Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services, Government of Tamil Nadu.

The MoU marks a significant step toward establishing a new dialysis unit at the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Ansari Nagar (Old OT Building), Mahaboopalayam, Madurai. The unit is expected to become operational within the next 6 to 8 weeks.

Under this collaboration, the Madurai Municipal Corporation will provide the required infrastructure and equipment for the unit, along with Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital. Tamilnad Kidney Research (TANKER) Foundation will operate and manage the dialysis services. Once operational, the facility is expected to benefit 100's of underprivileged patients in and around Madurai by providing much-needed dialysis care. On behalf of the Madurai Commissioner, and the Dean of Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital Dr. Sreegothai Chockkalingam,  Chief Medical Officer/ City APM, Madurai Corporation formally received the MoU.

  17 th  February 2024    TANKER Foundation runs 14 dialysis units, 11 in Chennai and one each in Madurai, Vellore and Tiruppur.  The Ambattur dialysis unit is supported by the Ambattur Rotary Club and Hospital, the CMCHIS and many valuable donors.    M/s. Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance Company Ltd have donated 1 dialysis machine and 3 defibrillators. The machine was inaugurated by   Mr. Clement Williams, Senior Vice President- FIG   and  Mr. Pawan Soni ,Chief Manager - CSR   . Mr Williams said that he had first hand experience with kidney disease and was very appreciative of the TANKER Team work. CME on Kidney Health for All

The key takeaways for people at the CME programme held Sunday November 26, 2023, with the theme ‘Kidney Health for All’ were exercise and diet, awareness, screening and timely check-ups to prevent chronic kidney disease (CKD).   Participating as the Chief Guest, Tamil Nadu Health Secretary, Mr. Gagandeep Singh Bedi, IAS, laid stress on the fact that kidney disease was increasing and there was a need for addressing the issue. TANKER 32nd Annual Charity and Awards Nite Celebrates Success

TANKER Foundation held its 32nd Annual Charity and Awards Nite on January 27, 2025, at Hotel Savera, RK Salai, Chennai.The program started with the Mr. Venkatesan & Mrs. Malathi Venkatesan TANKER Foundation Memorial Lecture by Mr. V. Gururajan, a 32-year post transplant survivor. He shared his personal journey, including his brother's decision to donate a kidney to him and the support he received from family and friends. He discussed how he maintains his health through diet, exercise, yoga, and meditation.
