Chennai's Fishermen Get Specialized Eye and General Health Care

A Specialized Eye and General Medical Check-up Camp was held on 14th June 2025 at Mullikuppam Community Hall in Chennai, benefiting 112 residents from the local fishing community with health consultations and screenings. This event was organized by ACS Medical College and Hospital, United Legal Rights Organisation – ASIA, BASE Trust, and the Indian Community Welfare Organisation (ICWO) to improve healthcare access for marginalized communities.

Mr. A. J. Hariharan from ICWO thanked Mr. Ravi Ranganathan and Mr. Sathish Nagappan from CBM India Trust for their support. The camp was inaugurated by Ms. K. Ushakumari, who highlighted the importance of providing medical care to coastal communities. Community mobilization was key to the camp's success, supported by local organizations. Basic medications were provided, and patients needing further care were referred to hospitals. The organizers thank all medical professionals, volunteers, and local leaders for their contributions.
