Tamil Nadu Athlete and Sports Association inaugurated in a grand manner

The Tamil Nadu Athlete and Sports Association (TAASA) was inaugurated on May 18th with grandeur, graced by Honorable Minister for Education Thiru Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi. Distinguished guests included Padmashree Thiru Dilip Tirkey, President of Hockey India; Padmashree Ms. Rani, triple Hockey Olympian and Arjuna Awardee Thiru VJ Philips, Word Cup Gold Medalist. The Association studded with only sports achievers under the guidance blessings of Supreme Court Justice R. Mahadevan.

TAASA President Mr. S. Purushothaman and members felicitated the guests, setting the tone for a memorable event. The Minister's inaugural speech was inspiring, outlining his vision for sports development in the state. He assured TAASA of the government's full support, highlighting the commitment of the Deputy Chief Minister and Chief Minister. 

The event drew an overwhelming response from the sports fraternity, with a large turnout of sports personalities and enthusiasts. TAASA honored 7 lifetime achievers, 15 elite sports persons, and 40 rising stars with awards, recognizing their outstanding contributions. 

The inauguration of TAASA marks a significant milestone in Tamil Nadu's sports development, and the association looks forward to promoting and supporting athletes and sports enthusiasts across the state.

CME on Kidney Health for All

The key takeaways for people at the CME programme held Sunday November 26, 2023, with the theme ‘Kidney Health for All’ were exercise and diet, awareness, screening and timely check-ups to prevent chronic kidney disease (CKD).   Participating as the Chief Guest, Tamil Nadu Health Secretary, Mr. Gagandeep Singh Bedi, IAS, laid stress on the fact that kidney disease was increasing and there was a need for addressing the issue. He drew attention to the fact that the Tamil Nadu government scheme, ‘Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam’, (Taking Healthcare to People), checked 1 crore people for sugar and BP and the number of new cases was alarming. These are the two major reasons for kidney disease, diabetes and hypertension and so he advised eating the right kind of food, doing regular exercise and creating awareness and screening. First DPL match was won by US Consulate Staff Team

  ICWO - Indian Community Welfare Organisation  organized the First DPL- Diplomat Cricket Tournament for Embassy, Consulate & High Commission Staff on 10 th   August 2024 at Soka Ikeda College of Arts and Science for Women, Sethu Bhaskara Nagar, Madhanangkuppam, Kolathur, Chennai. T he event aims to create high level Awareness to STOP Child Abuse, Child Trafficking, Child Marriage & Child Labour in Tamilnadu and mobilize funds for intervention to address the same. A.J.Hariharan, Secretary – ICWO thanked both the US Consulate and Malaysian Consulate for their support and participation in the diplomate cricket tournament as to create an awareness about the Child Marriage, Child Trafficking & Child Labour and Child Abuse in Tamilnadu.
