Galaxy Health Insurance tops - up its product offering with ‘Galaxy Top - up’

Galaxy Health Insurance, the youngest standalone health insurer in India, has introduced Galaxy Top-up, an affordable product to boost health insurance coverage. This plan offers extra protection at a lower cost and ensures access to quality healthcare. It is the first top-up plan in India to feature Premium Promise, which guarantees no premium increases until policyholders make a claim or turn 55 years old, whichever comes first. This feature can be added as optional cover.

Galaxy Top-up stands out from traditional health insurance plans as it provides a higher sum insured, ranging from ₹5 Lakhs to ₹2 crores. It offers comprehensive coverage and flexibility, including hospitalization and surgeries after a minimum waiting period of one year, and also supports advanced treatments.

The plan covers nanotechnology, which amounts to 25% of the sum insured. This technology uses nanomaterials to deliver drugs, diagnose diseases, and aid in wound healing, allowing for more precise treatment with fewer side effects. Nanotechnology is particularly beneficial in areas like cancer treatment and neurodegenerative disorders, making it the first time this is included in the industry.

Additionally, 71 consumables are covered, which include charges for admission, record-keeping, and insurance processing, helping to lower out-of-pocket costs. The plan also features ICU services, including a Digital ICU with modern technology, and Durable Medical Equipment/CAPD covered up to 10% of the sum insured or ₹1 Lakh, as optional cover.

Room rent options allow insured individuals to choose any room type. The Premium Promise feature helps manage healthcare costs by freezing the premium rate until the age of 55 or until a claim is made. It also covers delivery expenses, including C-section and normal delivery, as well as modern treatments like organ transplantation and bariatric surgery.

With medical inflation at 14%, affecting over 90 million people, top-up plans like Galaxy Top-up provide financial protection against rising healthcare costs. Mr. G. Srinivasan, MD & CEO of Galaxy Health Insurance, emphasizes the growing need for affordable health insurance. The company has already covered over 10,000 lives since launching its Galaxy Promise product and aims to expand its presence in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu with its Chennai headquarters.
