Godrej 'Make in India' Vision Gains Momentum

The Process Equipment business of Godrej Enterprises Group has announced a ₹200 crore investment to expand its manufacturing facility in Dahej, Gujarat. This follows an earlier investment of ₹300 crore and shows the company’s commitment to enhancing domestic manufacturing and supporting India’s clean energy ambitions. The expansion aligns with government initiatives like Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat, as well as the National Green Hydrogen Mission, which prioritize clean energy and projects backed by a ₹37,000 crore allocation.

The Phase-III expansion will boost the facility's annual manufacturing capacity to around 30,000 MT, adding new production space, including a Dust-free Enclosure for exotic materials and dedicated areas for manufacturing internals. This development aims to increase capabilities in producing high-end equipment for sectors such as hydrogen, nuclear, geothermal energy, and conventional projects like refineries and petrochemicals.

Hussain Shariyarr, Executive Vice President & Business Head, stated that the global energy sector is shifting toward cleaner solutions, necessitating the evolution of manufacturers to meet rising demands in the clean energy sector. The expansion reflects the company’s commitment to leading this shift by enhancing its capabilities to deliver large-scale clean energy equipment.

The new facility will include an Extended Fabrication Yard for large equipment, a 30m x 10m Advanced Heat Treatment Furnace to reduce carbon emissions, and it holds a Zero Waste to Landfill certification. With over 80% automation and integration of Industry 4. 0 technologies, it aims for improved precision and efficiency. The facility also has a sea-going jetty for easier transport of oversized equipment internationally, with 70% of production currently exported to over 40 countries.

This expansion supports India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and net-zero aims, positioning the country as a leader in clean energy manufacturing and technology. The facility will be vital for meeting global demands for nuclear, hydrogen, and geothermal energy solutions, bolstering India’s industrial capabilities and job creation through advanced technologies and sustainable practices.
