Rajesh Magow, Co-founder & Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, stated that the New Year and Christmas season is a great time for travelers seeking relaxation, whether for domestic or international trips. Travelers are increasingly willing to spend more money to create memorable experiences. During the holidays, most bookings are for pairs and families, although solo travel is also rising, especially for international trips. 

The top 20 domestic destinations make up 40% of all travel searches this holiday season, with Goa being the most popular. Other cities like Manali, Varanasi, Mussoorie, and Udaipur have seen significant growth in searches. Notably, 40% of these top destinations are hill stations from North and South India. The list of the top 20 searched domestic cities includes Goa, Mumbai, Udaipur, Delhi, Jaipur, Manali, Puri, Bengaluru, Munnar, Varanasi, Lonavala, Mahabaleshwar, Hyderabad, Ooty, Jaisalmer, Kolkata, Coorg, Mussoorie, Pondicherry, and Shimla. 

For international travel, the top 20 destinations account for 83% of all searches, with Azerbaijan and Malaysia showing the most growth. Other places like Japan, Vietnam, and Turkey have experienced healthy increases in searches. However, Canada and Maldives are down from previous years. The top 20 searched international destinations include the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the United States, Vietnam, the United Kingdom, Sri Lanka, Australia, Canada, Nepal, Maldives, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, France, Japan, Hong Kong, Turkey, and Qatar. 

The Saturday before Christmas (December 21) remains a popular travel date. For domestic hotel bookings, interest is growing for trips starting December 25, indicating longer holiday plans. Business class travel has risen significantly, with a 50% increase overall, and a notable 80% rise for international flights. The trend towards higher hotel prices is evident, with an increase in bookings above INR 10K. Holiday package bookings have grown as well, with top domestic packages to Andaman, Kerala, Goa, Himachal, and Kashmir, and international packages to Dubai, Thailand, Singapore, Maldives, and Bali.
