A NEW HAEMODIALYSIS MACHINE FOR THE THIRUVERKADU RCMW TANKER DIALYSIS UNIT

TANKER (Tamilnad Kidney Research) Foundation is a registered non-profit charitable Organization started in June 1993 with the aim of helping under-privileged patients with kidney disease by giving Subsidized Dialysis and one time financial help for medication, investigation and transplantation and spread awareness about kidney disease. TANKER cares for those, the underprivileged, who suffer with kidney problems of any kind, reversible or terminal, regardless of caste, creed, sex or religion.

TANKER runs 14 dialysis units, 11 in Chennai and one each in Madurai, Vellore and Tiruppur. The Thiruverkadu dialysis unit is supported by the Rotary Club of Madras West, the CMCHIS and many valuable donors.  

The New Machine has been donated by M/s. Kaleesuwari Refinery Pvt Ltd and inaugurated by Ms. Meenakshi Ashok of Kaleesuwari Foundation on 10th December 2024. Ms. Meenakshi said that she deeply appreciated the work TANKER is doing for the needy with kidney failure. Her family and Foundation have been long term supporters of TANKER Foundation.

Mrs. Latha Kumaraswami, Managing Trustee of TANKER Foundation, conveyed TANKER's heartfelt gratitude to M/s. Kaleesuwari Refinery Pvt Ltd, the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS), the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), the Rotary Club of Madras West, and other valuable donors for their consistent and generous support. She said that the lifespan of a hemodialysis machine typically ranges from 6 to 7 years, after which the machine must be replaced depending on utilization and operating hours. She highlighted the importance of timely replacement to ensure the continued delivery of quality care to patients. She also said they were looking for space to set up a Centre of Excellence for Kidney Disease.

TANKER has done 725,534 lakhs dialysis and is now helping 890 patients. Awareness programmes have been done for over 2.10 Lakh people and Screening Camps for 44,621 people for early detection of kidney disease. TANKER's staff are the Angels on Earth who are totally selfless and dedicated to helping the needy. This generous donation will benefit all our underprivileged patients in and around Thiruverkadu.
