“Shining the Light of Hope - The Healing Touch”- Book Release function

ANKER (Tamilnad Kidney Research) Foundation is a registered non-profit charitable Organization started in June 1993 with the aim of helping under-privileged patients with kidney disease by giving Subsidized Dialysis and one time financial help for medication, investigation and transplantation and spread awareness about kidney disease.

Dr. Georgi Abraham has inspired patients and staff (who are our Angels on Earth) to write their stories - how they overcame their battle with kidney disease. TANKER Foundation is publishing this book in both English and Tamil – “Shining the Light of Hope - The Healing Touch”.

The book was released by Dr. J. Radhakrishnan, I.A.S, Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner, Greater Chennai Corporation. This book is the first of its kind and it was a big honor for our patients, our staff and all of us at TANKER Foundation for his presence and participation. Dr Georgi Founder Trustee TANKER Foundation said this book was a testimony to the fortitude and courage of patients and staff and that their stories needed to be told.

Dr Radhakrishnan said that this book would be a promotive book along with being a preventive one and encourage and give hope to people with kidney disease . On reading this book he hoped that people would be more careful with their follow up,compliance and discipline and learn from the Patient stories. More than data from outside this book would help in giving people courage and also information about the disease. He said that long after people were gone this book would be there for future generations to learn from.He was appreciative that the books were both in Tamil and English. He was happy to have been associated with the TANKER Foundation over the years.

Mrs Latha Kumaraswami, Managing Trustee of TANKER Foundation TANKER has done almost 6.16 lakhs dialysis through their 14 dialysis units and is now helping 875 patients. Awareness programmes have been done for almost 2 Lakh people and Screening Camps for 40,549 people for early detection of kidney disease. She thanked all the patients, staff, media and Mrs. Nina Reddy.Mr Ananthakrishnan and Ms Rohini Menon Advisory Member TANKER Foundation also participated.
