“Sensitization Workshop for Media” by Family Planning Association of India, Chennai Branch


The Family Planning Association of India is a non-profit NGO working in the field of sexual and Reproductive health. The Association is implementing a project “Minimum Initial Service Package” (MISP) to safe guard the reproductive health of the people during disasters with the following objectives namely, to prevent sexual violence and respond to needs of survivors, to reduce morbidity and mortality due to HIV and other STI’s, to prevent unintended pregnancies and to plan for comprehensive SRH services integrated into Primary Health Care as soon as possible and also to ensure safe abortion care is available to the full extent of the Law in health centers and hospitals.

In view of this, Family Planning Association of India, Chennai Branch had organised a “Sensitization Workshop for Media” at Maple Tree Hotel at Vadapalani, Chennai on 19th Oct 2023 with an aim to sensitize media personnel on the MISP objectives.


Dr. J.Vasantha Kumrai Vice President, FPAI welcome the gathering.  Ms. N. Leelavathy, Chairman, FPAI rendered the presidential address. Ms.P.Padmaselvi, Branch Manager of FPAI, Chennai Branch gave an introduction to MISP project to the gathering. During the workshop, Dr.Alarmelmangai, Medical Officer gave a detailed power point presentation on SRH During Disaster and Health Care for Women subjected GBV.

Mr.N.Venkatesan, Financial Advisor, FPAI, delivered the vote of thanks. The informative and well-presented workshop by Family Planning Association of India, Chennai Branch concluded on a successful note.
