Awarded Doctoral Degree by University of Madras 2023 in Mathematics

 Diana has an impressive academic background and many achievements to her credit

Dr. Diana Grace Thomas was the proposed candidate for nominated Anglo-Indian Member of Parliament in the 16th Lok Sabha and is associated with the United Nations as an active participant in UN Women, UN Global Compact and UNHCR. She Published Research Papers in International Journals, Presented Research Papers at National and International Conferences, for one of her papers Presented in the workshop held at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, U.A.E. University, Al Ain, Dubai received an International Best Research Award in the year 2020. She completed a course from ISRO & IIRS in Advances in Monitoring and Modelling of Hydro-Meteorological Hazards and she is also an E-Learning and E-Publishing Expert. From her childhood Diana is always eager to learn something new. Late Mr. Richard P. Cook a Journalist from Massachusetts, USA visited India in the year 2000 and he was inspired by Diana’s school records and her ambitions and then he carried on the message to MIT, Cambridge, USA. Diana’s dream of higher studies came true through MIT Professor Mr. George Verghese.

With an impressive academic background and many achievements to her credit recently she was awarded a Doctoral Degree by the University of Madras on 10-04-2023 in Mathematics. Dr. Sr. Jasintha Quadras, FMM, Principal of Maris Stella College, Vijayawada and former Principal of Stella Maris College Chennai said at Diana’s Viva “My Supervisor Dr. Indra Raja Singh, she is here. She has sown the seed of research in me and through me all the others…I want to congratulate Diana and she started with me and since I got transfer, she wept and wept that time when I left. I had to handover my candidate to Dr. Shanthi thank you for taking over Diana and making her successfully completes her PhD.”

Renowned Mathematicians from various other colleges, 4 Principals including former Principals of Nirmala College for women, Coimbatore and Vice Principals, Deans, 50 Doctorates, Faculties, Research Scholars, Office Bearers of the Student Union and Students, overall 150 members participated in her viva. Diana believes that mathematics is more of arts than science and the art lies in how skilfully an educator can teach the concepts of the subject to a student. Last but not least, if the teacher is good, students love mathematics, says Diana with an ambitious smile.
