Facebook live in Tamil on Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
A new series of Facebook live in Tamil titled “Ungal Aarogyam, Ungal Kelvigal” (#Your Health Your Questions) was launched on 24 January, 2022 at 3 p.m. to specifically address questions related to PCOS -- Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. This is an opportunity for Tamils living across the world to clear the myths about health issues.
An estimated one in five Indian women suffer from PCOS. The programme aims to raise awareness amidst the Tamil-speaking community all over the world about women’s healthcare, and break the language barrier in which health information is delivered, thereby reaching every girl and every woman. It is a mission undertaken by Federation of International Gynaecologists and Obstetricians (FIGO) Chair of Well Woman Healthcare, Dr. Hema Divakar, Medical Director, Divakars Speciality Hospital.
This series is part of Health For Her, a special initiative and
app being launched by the organisation Artist For Her, with support from
Divakars Service Trust, in association with DocSpacePlus.
Along with Dr Hema Divakar, Dr Jayam Kannan, Managing Director, Gharbarakshagi Group
of Institutions; Dr Charmila Ayyavoo, Medical Director, Aditi Hospital, Trichy;
and Dr Poorni Narayanan, Associate Consultant, Divakars Speciality Hospital
will take part in the session on 24 January.
The six-episode series, which will go live every 15 days on Mondays at 3 p.m., will address several questions in a conversational style so that the prevailing myths and misconceptions in the space of women’s health are dispelled. In the coming weeks, various topics of interest spanning menstrual health, maternal health, mental health and menopausal health will be addressed.
This will go a long way in empowering girls and women to take measures for preventing illness and promoting wellness.The program will have the best of national experts from the region, who will speak in Tamil on the issue of PCOS.
The series will soon be available in other Indian regional languages also. The talks will later be made available on YouTube as well.After 24 January, questions can be asked on the Health for Her app (Google Play Store & IOS) to reach more doctors. Link to watch the live: facebook.com/DocSpacePlus
