Annual Get-Together of Anglo-Indian Suburban Front

The Anglo-Indian Suburban Front, Chennai under the president ship of its Founder- Dr.A.Roy Rozario held its 19th Annual Get-together in Chennai on Sunday,26th December 2021 with a limited participation of members. A moment of silence was observed at the start to remember all the departed followed by carol singing by a group led by Mr. Michael Fernandez comprising of Mrs.Loretta, Andrea, Edwin and the Association Secretary-Mrs.Petula Pinheiro. A special performance was made by Antony School of Music by its Founder Antony Williams and his family. This was followed by a Musical Chair and Tambola for the members, following which Memento's and prizes were distributed. 


The Speakers on the occasion included the Special Invitees -Mr.Mark Carron and Dr.Osphina Delphina Mariam, Proprietress of Joy Homeo Clinic,Perambur .The Guests of Honour -Mr.Harry Maclure Editor of  Anglos in the Wind International Magazine and Mr.Richard O'Connor ,Asst. Collector of Customs &GST spoke of maintaining unity among the Community.
 


The Chief Guest -Mr.S Purushotaman,Chairman of Khelo Masters Games Foundation (KMGF) & Sr.Vice-President /KMGF-India & Genl. Secretary /KMGF-TN, who won the first ever Gold Medal in Basketball in World European Games held in Italy during 2020 appreciated the prominent role played by the Minority Anglo-Indian Community by producing Olympians like Leslie Claudius and Adam Sinclair in the game of Hockey and added that he would be happy to train Anglo-Indians in various sports. 


The AISF -Founder &President-Dr.A.Roy Rozario requested the BJP Leadership and top brass led by Prime Minister -Mr.Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister -Mr.Amit Shah to reconsider and restore the Anglo-Indian Nominations to Parliament and State Assemblies discontinued from January '2020 under the 104 th Constitutional Amendment Act'2020,besides considering to treat the Anglo-Indians as a separate linguistic Minority under the NCM Act'1992 and to set up a National Commission for the Anglo-Indians guaranteed under Article 338(10) of the Indian Constitution, as done in the case of the SC&ST Communities. The vote of thanks was proposed by the Association Secretary-Mrs.Petula Pinheiro and concluded with dinner for Members.
