Indian Stroke Association to host Asia Pacific Stroke Congress from December 9-11, in Chennai

The Asia Pacific Stroke Organization (APSO) and the Indian Stroke Association (ISA) have come together to host the XIth Asia Pacific Stroke Congress (APSC) this year.

APSC is the flagship educational programme of APSO and targets stroke care professionals from different disciplines in the Asia Pacific region and beyond. The Congress will take part in Chennai from December 9 to 11. The Congress is taking place in the virtual mode for the second consecutive year because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The theme of the APSC this year is “Stroke Care in Challenging Times”.

More than 800 doctors from India, Asia Pacific, and other regions have registered for the three-day Congress, which will see scores of interesting and insightful workshops, panel discussions, symposia, presentation of papers, and much more.

“The scientific committee has assembled interesting sessions on intracranial occlusive disease, organised stroke care in Asia, small vessel disease, secondary prevention in stroke, Neurosonology as well as Covid-19 related cerebro vascular complications. The sessions will also provide opportunities for active discussions on current topical issues. We are confident that all participants will have a rewarding learning experience during the conference,” said APSO President Prof. Kay Sin Tan.

APSC President Dr. Jeyaraj Pandian, who is also President of the Indian Stroke Association, said, “The Congress will provide a cutting edge educational and scientific experience, focusing on latest developments in acute management, rehabilitation, and long-term care. Stroke is a major cause of disability and death in Asia, and there will be a particular emphasis on issues related to stroke care in the region. We also have special sessions for addressing stroke care in less represented countries from Asia.”


Dr. Arvind Sharma & Dr. VG Pradeep Kumar, the Organising Secretaries of APSC said, “The APSO and ISA have put together an excellent academic feast that includes lectures, debates, and symposia of eminent neuroscientists from across the globe. The Congress will be a great learning and networking opportunity for the medical fraternity.”
