CHENNAI, (4th June 2024)   A new drinking water cooler was inaugurated at Jawaharlal Nehru Highways, Anna Nagar West Extn, in front of Asiad colony, Indian bank. The inauguration was done by Lion. Dr. A.R. Dharmalingam, Director - Jubilee Housing Pvt. Ltd in presence of Mr.S. Jayaprakash, Joint Secretary, Asiad Colony Welfare Association and Mr.P.Rajan, Committee Member, Asiad Colony Welfare Association. After inauguration ceremony, Lion. Dr. A.R. Summer relief: Free buttermilk, water bottles distributed

As part of   ICWO – Abhay Dan Trust initiative 300 chilled water bottles and 400 glasses of buttermilk were distributed free to the public at Asiad Colony, 100 Feet Road, Thirumangalam, Chennai. A total of 1200 buttermilk cups and 900 water bottles were distributed in three days from 1 st to 3 rd June 2024. “It's our way of helping people get through summer. Buttermilk, apart from quenching thirst, is also good for health,” said A.J.Hariharan, Founder-Secretary of Indian Community Welfare Organisation-ICWO. Free butter milk and water bottles were served to students, security guards, labours, street vendors, delivery staff, salesmen, homeless people and other visitors who passed by. The beneficiaries felt a great relief from the heat wave while whole-heartily appreciating the noble service which was the need of the hour.

Apollo hospitals performs world-first Renal denervation therapy with Simplicity Spyral for a hypertensive patient with Ectopic kidney

Chennai, 30 May 2024: Apollo Hospitals Chennai has achieved a remarkable world-first by successfully performing the Simplicity Spyral renal denervation (RDN) therapy on a patient with an ectopic kidney. Dr. Refai Showkathali and his team carried out this pioneering procedure to treat resistant hypertension in a 58-year-old man with uncontrolled blood pressure despite being on a maximum medical regimen. Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a prevalent condition affecting nearly one-third of individuals over 40 years old. Controlling blood pressure is crucial, as even a modest 5mmHg reduction can decrease the risk of stroke by 34%, ischemic heart disease by 21%, and mortality by 13%. The 58-year-old patient had an ectopic left kidney located in the right iliac fossa, supplied by two separate renal arteries – an extremely rare anatomical variation.
